A visit to the Alameda flea market is one of my favorite ways to spend a Sunday morning. During a recent trip there, I found some creative ways to reinvent unique and beautiful vintage accessories.

Sewing gloves, scarves and ties together makes a charming banner.
Creating tassels out of vintage tea cups and woolen fabric fringe is such a creative idea!

This jewel encrusted dress is a show stopper!

Whenever I travel to Manhattan, I make sure to squeeze in a trip to ABC Carpet & Home. The abundance of eye candy found in their in-store displays always leaves me inspired, and full of creative ideas!

I love the fresh, modern ikat patterns used in this beautiful Madeline Weinrib collection.
The hot pinks and oranges found in this ABC ikat rug are especially pretty!

This display of vintage plates reminds me of the walls in our sun room. Each plate is like a delicate little painting.

This lush, green table runner is full of natural inspirations: succulents, moss, and a centerpiece overflowing with branches. It has such a clean and organic look and feel.

A peaceful bedroom interior filled with warm lighting and crisp, clean whites.
...accented by the harmonious use of branches, lighting and sheer fabric.
I recently started a line of wall decals with RoomMates Peel and Stick Décor. These repositionable decals are really colorful and cool! My daughter, Lisa, and I put up the Scroll Tree design in my new studio, take a look!

There are other coordinating peel and stick designs, including wall borders. This idea is such a great alternative to wallpaper or other techniques that are difficult to remove. You can purchase these from the RoomMates website here:

A couple of weeks ago I got a phone call from my friend Sunday, who is a stylist for home dec magazines. She told me that in less than one week, she and a photographer would be at my house for a story! Ah! I had to quickly spruce up my home. My main focus was the living room, because it had changed a lot since the last time it was photographed for a magazine (Mary Engelbright Home Companion.)
Since then, the ceiling had been painted while, we installed a new fireplace, and all of the furniture was different. In order to really make the room pop, I decided to stencil the main wall and paint big roses on my curtains. I made my own stencil for the first time with acetate and an X-Acto knife. I had my assistant, Katrina, help with the stenciling while I painted the curtains. For those, I used a big house painting brush and big bowls of paint! Here's how the day looked:

We used 4 colors for the wall stencil: cream, iridescent white, silver, and gold.

After! I think the photographs are going to look really great. Once I find out when the article will be published, I'll be sure to let you know!
At the end of April I flew to St. Louis with my daughter, Lisa, to attend the Mary Engelbreit Workshops! I had been invited as a guest speaker, which also meant that I was able to take workshops, listen to the seminars, and explore St. Louis. It was a lot of fun! I felt honored to be chosen by Mary Engelbreit to be on the panel of speakers along with Amy Butler, Marcia Ceppos, and Margo Tantau as the moderator. The talk was really great; we were relaxed up on stage talking with each other about what we create and answering questions from the audience. I thought I would be so nervous but it was like sitting down with friends.
Here are some photos of the crafts my daughter and I made at our workshops!
