My bright and sunny collection, happi by Dena™, is now available as gift bags and kitchen stationery, made by CR Gibson. Everything looks so great! The bags, recipe keeper, note cards and more are made with special details, like buttons and grosgrain ribbon.

Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, there are some cute independent fabric stores. Walking by Piedmont Fabric the other day, I noticed this window display!

It’s the easy to sew tote bag and apron from my newest fabric collection, Leanika, with Free Spirit fabrics. Behind the sewn samples, you can see how the yard of fabric is laid out, ready to cut and sew.

Piedmont Fabric is at 3858 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, CA 94611. If you’re interested in buying the Leanika cut and sew tote bag or apron, etsy.com is a great place to buy fabric and support small businesses. Simply type “Leanika” in the “supplies” search field and you’ll find results for my fabric collection.

Happy sewing!

Hi everyone!

I hope you are all staying warm and enjoying the holiday season. It has been raining here in Northern California, but today was a beautiful sunny day.

I kept busy today by writing a guest entry for the brand new Sizzix.com blog. It's a sweet project if you love fabric flowers like I do, pictured below.

Leanika Fabric

My newest fabric collection with Free Spirit Fabrics / Westminster Fibers is called Leanika. It’s coming out this month to a fabric store near you! (And many online shops.) The Leanika collection was inspired by my love of vintage textiles. Combining vintage inspired prints with more mod hip prints gives this collection the modern twist that I love.

Last month we had lots of fun with the photo shoot, once again involving a white poodle. This time it was my own dog, Ruby, sitting inside the Leanika cut and sew tote bag. We posed Ruby in all kinds of positions, accompanied by my assistant Katrina who’s wearing the cut and sew apron. Here are some of my favorite outtakes, along with the final Leanika ad:

Both the apron and tote bag will be available as sewing patterns printed on a yard of heavyweight cotton, so all you have to do is cut out the printed pieces and follow the easy sewing directions. They're a perfect compliment to the 30 patterns that make up the Leanika Collection.

 Hello everyone!

My summer of travels isn’t over yet -- last week I was in Las Vegas and Texas for more trade shows and meetings. And in two weeks I’m leaving again! Who knew the life of a painter could involve so many airplanes.

I wanted to give you a little update on my happi by Dena™ line of products. Expressionery.com has created a wonderful selection of happi stationery which you can personalize and buy from their website. There are folded note sets, flat cards, small memo pads, magnetic list pads, bookplate labels, and holiday designs. They are all so cute and happi!
